About KWISA

KWISA is led by and for Women of African Heritage. Our mission is to advance the empowerment of women and girls of African heritage by dismantling structural barriers, fostering community, and creating opportunities for women and their families to thrive in Scotland and internationally.

Why Become a Trustee?

As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding KWISA’s strategy, ensuring we remain accountable to our communities, and supporting the delivery of impactful programmes. Trustees help shape our vision, contribute to decision-making, and bring their expertise to strengthen our work.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Support the growth of a dynamic community organisation.
  • Gain valuable governance and leadership experience.
  • Be part of a movement creating real change for women and girls of African heritage.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are:

  • Passionate about equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
  • Experienced in or connected to African heritage communities.
  • Skilled in areas such as fundraising, advocacy, communications, HR, GDPR, or voluntary sector management (training and support provided).

Commitment

  • Meetings: 4 Board meetings per year, plus occasional committee involvement.
  • Location: Meetings are held online and in person in Scotland.
  • Expenses: All reasonable expenses covered.
  • Requirement: PVG membership.
